The position offers the opportunity to influence programming strategy across facilities while working with modern CAD/CAM tools, ERP/MRP systems, and a variety of CNC controls.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of CNC programming for machining, milling, and laser cutting operations across multiple facilities.
  • Provide ongoing machine shop support and troubleshooting for all CNC programming activities.
  • Develop and oversee preferred methods and practices for company-wide programming and verification activities.
  • Incorporate standard approaches per material type and machining platform, utilizing a standard cutter list with proven cutting parameters to ensure optimal machine performance and material removal rates.
  • Create, update, and maintain CAM drawings, datasets, and detailed setup sheets to support production.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams on the selection and introduction of cutting tools to improve performance and cost efficiency.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to part machining, including participation in comprehensive Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing personnel on product development, CAM process improvements, machine time reduction, and tool cost optimization.
  • Assist with 3D modeling of products as needed to support programming and manufacturing requirements.
  • Read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, GD&T, and FD&T requirements to ensure accurate and compliant work output.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems and MS Office tools to support planning, documentation, and communication.
  • Provide liaison support between programming, engineering, and shop floor operations to ensure smooth production flow and problem resolution.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in multi-axis NC programming of aluminum and hard metals.
  • Minimum of 5 years of advanced CATIA/CAD system operating experience, with strong proficiency in CATIA V5 preferred.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience in a CNC programming or machine shop environment preferred.
  • Experience with advanced CAM and CNC programming for production environments.
  • Experience working with or programming Fanuc, Mazak, HAAS, and/or Siemens CNC controls.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply GD&T and FD&T requirements to work products.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite for documentation, analysis, and communication.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems to support manufacturing planning and control.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving complex machining and programming issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and shop floor personnel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace production environments, including airframe, structural, and aircraft mechanical components.
  • Experience with verification processes and tools for CNC programming and machining operations.
  • Post-processor building experience is a plus; training is available for the right candidate.
  • Experience with IMS or similar systems is a plus.
  • Experience in A&P, airframe, or aircraft structures is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Comfort working with multi-axis machining platforms and a variety of cutting tool technologies.
