Job Title: Business Analyst II
Job Description
The Business Analyst II supports the Electro-Mechanical Strategic Sourcing function within a complex PLM environment, ensuring accurate Global Commodity Manager (GCM) assignment to engineering change orders (ECOs) and optimizing related workflows. This role focuses on PLM system operations, managing and improving the GCM assignment process and routing algorithm, and enhancing ECO processing performance while supporting the transition from Agile PLM to Teamcenter. The position plays a key role in enabling early visibility into supply chain impacts, including cost, lead time risks, and implications for goods-on-hand, and helps embed supply chain touchpoints into the Product Development Process.
Responsibilities
- Manage the GCM Assignment Group function within the PLM system to ensure appropriate Strategic Sourcing Managers are added to ECOs as approvers during technical review, based on the category, program, and supplier ownership matrix.
- Review affected items on each ECO and route them to the correct GCMs to provide early visibility into supply chain impacts, including cost implications, goods-on-hand considerations, and lead time risks.
- Analyze the performance of the current GCM assignment algorithm and develop improvements that incorporate rules for new programs, supplier changes, and category restructuring.
- Create structured data sets that document assignment decisions and resolution patterns to serve as training data for future AI-based auto-assignment tools.
- Monitor and report on Strategic Sourcing team performance related to ECO processing time, data accuracy, and SLA compliance across all stages of the workflow.
- Support integration with the Product Development Process by ensuring that supply chain touchpoints are embedded at the appropriate stages.
- Support the creation of training tools and materials for the Supply Chain organization related to PLM workflows, ECO routing, and assignment processes.
- Serve as supporting staff for testing and validating the transition from Agile PLM to Teamcenter, including workflow configuration and assignment group management.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in supply chain, engineering, and systems administration to refine processes and improve end-to-end ECO and change management workflows.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by leveraging data analysis, operational KPIs, and workflow insights to identify bottlenecks and recommend enhancements.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in supply chain operations, PLM administration, or systems-focused roles in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Hands-on experience with PLM systems such as Agile, Teamcenter, Windchill, or equivalent, including workflow management and user administration.
- Solid understanding of engineering change management processes (ECO, DECO, MCO) and their relationship to supply chain operations.
- Experience with data analysis and process improvement, including the ability to define, measure, and track operational KPIs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for analysis, documentation, and reporting.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or equivalent, and their role in supporting supply chain and operations.
- Experience developing training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), or process documentation for technical workflows.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify patterns in assignment decisions and translate them into systematic rules that can be implemented in PLM workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Agile PLM, including workflow configuration, change order routing, and assignment group management.
- Experience in PLM-to-PLM migration projects, particularly transitions from Agile PLM to Teamcenter.
- Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts and their application to process automation, especially classification and routing tasks.
- Understanding of BOM structures and part lifecycle stages (Prototype, Planning, Pilot, Production) and their implications for supply chain operations.
- Experience with ERP integration, including data flows between PLM, ERP, and demand planning systems.
- Experience with process mining or workflow analytics tools to identify bottlenecks and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Qualification as a Buyer, with practical insight into sourcing, supplier management, and procurement processes.
Work Environment
The role operates within a complex product lifecycle management environment that manages more than 12,000 components across 12 categories and over 600 suppliers. You will work extensively with PLM platforms such as Agile and Teamcenter, ERP systems like Oracle or SAP, and standard productivity tools including Microsoft Office. The position is highly collaborative, engaging closely with supply chain, engineering, and product development teams to support ECO workflows and strategic sourcing activities. Work typically follows standard business hours in a professional office or hybrid setting, with significant focus on system-based analysis, configuration, and documentation. The environment emphasizes data-driven decision-making, continuous process improvement, and structured change management, offering opportunities to contribute to large-scale system transitions and automation initiatives.
