This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC Haas mill and lathe machines in a clean, organized, and team-oriented shop environment. The machinist performs multiple daily set-ups, runs production, and conducts quality inspections using precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet specifications and blueprint requirements.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Haas mill and lathe machines for daily production.
- Perform an average of 4–5 machine set-ups per day, including tooling changes and offsets.
- Interpret and work from engineering blueprints to produce parts to specification.
- Adjust tools, offsets, and machine parameters to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality.
- Conduct quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make appropriate corrections to improve process stability and output.
- Perform changeovers efficiently to minimize downtime between jobs.
- Operate related shop equipment such as drill presses as needed to support machining operations.
- Monitor machine performance and report any mechanical or operational issues promptly.
- Collaborate closely with the lead machinist and production leadership in a team-focused environment.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
- At least 2 years of experience running CNC mills or lathes, or a recent 2-year technical degree in machining.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC Haas mills and/or lathes.
- Proficiency in machining operations, including tooling selection, offsets, and machine operation.
- Ability to perform precise measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other inspection tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operation and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform multiple set-ups per day while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Competence in changeover processes and adjusting machines for different jobs.
- Capability to read and follow technical documentation and work instructions.
- Commitment to safety practices in a machining environment, including proper use of PPE.
- Manual machining experience is preferred and considered a strong asset.
- Experience operating drill presses and other conventional shop equipment.
- Familiarity with CNC Haas controls and programming adjustments.
- Comfort working in a structured, department-based production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
- Effective communication skills for working closely with team members and leadership.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.

Safety is a core priority, and steel toe boots and safety glasses are required at all times on the shop floor. The environment is structured, collaborative, and focused on producing high-quality machined components while maintaining clear safety and cleanliness standards.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
