Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate 5 Axis CNC mills or lathes in our HMPT department, which specializes in producing parts for a defense company. The role involves setting up jobs on assigned machines, performing inspections using various measuring equipment, and diagnosing equipment or tool issues. Training will initially be on the 1st shift for 30-90 days, before moving to C shift, which operates 12 hours from 6a-6p with a shift premium.

Responsibilities

• Operate 5 Axis CNC mills or lathes to produce correct parts according to customer process documentation.
• Set up jobs on assigned machines including tool changes.
• Perform 1st piece, in-process, and last piece inspections using micrometers, calipers, comparators, gauges, and CMM equipment.
• Conduct data collection and communication tasks in Job Boss and other applications.
• Perform operator maintenance and diagnose equipment or tool issues.

Essential Skills

• 3 years of CNC Machining experience on 5 Axis Machines.
• Firm understanding of machining center theory, including x, y, and z axis, along with edge and center line pickup.
• Ability to use common measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with CNC Machinist setups and blueprint reading.
• Knowledge of GD&T, gauging, and measuring.

Work Environment

The work environment is a job shop machining center for the aerospace industry, focusing on complex parts with close tolerances. Runs typically range from 20-70 pieces. Shift options include C shift (12 hours from 6a-6p), with training initially on the 1st shift for 30-90 days. Shift premiums are offered based on the shift schedule.

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $62400.00/yr.
