Position Overview:
The Quality Micro Specialist is responsible for executing and supporting microbiological testing and data management activities within the Micro-Analytical Laboratory (MAL) at Berner Food & Beverage. This role ensures accurate sample handling, reliable test execution, and proper documentation in alignment with company standards and regulatory requirements. The Quality Micro Specialist plays a key role in maintaining data integrity, supporting laboratory operations, and collaborating across departments to uphold product quality and food safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive, review, label, and track samples and Sample Analysis Request Forms (SARFs) throughout all stages of laboratory testing.
- Perform microbiological testing and ensure all procedures are conducted in accordance with established protocols and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory data, including sample logs, SARFs, and test results, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in sample information or documentation by coordinating with internal teams.
- Support audit readiness by ensuring laboratory practices, documentation, and records meet requirements for customer audits, SQF, FDA, Kosher, HACCP, and other regulatory standards.
- Assist in audit preparation activities, including document collection and process verification.
- Review and verify microbiological test results to ensure alignment with established control limits and internal specifications.
- Prepare and coordinate outgoing samples for third-party laboratory testing, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
- Receive and process third-party laboratory results, integrating findings into internal systems and communicating results as needed.
- Generate clear, accurate, and timely laboratory reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Promptly escalate and assist in resolving any issues related to test results, laboratory processes, or documentation.
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, Warehouse, and external laboratory partners to ensure efficient workflow and communication.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of microbiological testing within the food and beverage manufacturing industry.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory testing and data management.
- Effective organizational skills for managing multiple samples, records, and priorities.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and identify inconsistencies.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to address discrepancies and escalate issues appropriately.
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and audit standards (e.g., SQF, FDA, HACCP).

Pay Range: 23.00-28.00 an hour based on experience. Full medical, dental, vision, and 401k offered.
