Job Description
About United Road
United Road is the largest finished vehicle logistics company in North America. We move new and used vehicles for OEMs, dealerships, auctions, and fleet operators across the continent. We do it through company drivers, owner-operators, and thousands of third-party carriers in our Haully network.
Our pillars are simple: Expertise, Partnership, and being Ever-Present for our customers and carriers. This role lives the Partnership pillar every day.
The role
You are the voice carriers hear when they call United Road, and the first person they meet when they join us. You recruit third-party carriers into the Haully network, onboard them, and stay with them through their journey: setup, credentials, customer requirements, and the everyday questions that come up once they are hauling for us.
Most of your day is on the phone, inbound and outbound. If you like talking to people, solving problems on the spot, and being the person carriers trust to follow through, you will do well here.
What your day looks like
Carrier recruiting and onboarding (core):
- Make outbound calls to recruit and qualify third-party carriers into the Haully network.
- Onboard new carriers from first contact through their first loads, including setup and credentials.
- Guide carriers through every step of their journey with us, and answer their questions along the way.
- Help carriers understand each customer's individual requirements so they can haul with confidence.
- Provide website and platform support, including help with log-in credentials.
Carrier service and relationships:
- Answer inbound calls and voicemails from carriers, resolve their questions and complaints, and follow through until they are handled.
- Make outbound calls to investigate internal complaints about transport delays, communication, or professionalism.
- Develop and maintain relationships with third-party carrier capacity to support Logistics operations and the terminal network, and meet customer demand.
- Monitor and report carrier performance and metrics, and review them with carriers on a regular basis.
- Monitor third-party carriers' Central Dispatch ratings and discuss with them as needed.
- Help facilitate the Carrier Awards.
Compliance and administration:
- Make sure carrier insurance renewal certificates and cancellations are received on time and updated in the tracking system.
- Maintain and update carrier profile information regularly.
- Track and report fuel surcharges for third-party carriers.
- Provide weekly active carrier lists and specifications to dispatch teams.
- Process mail daily, with a focus on certificate updates and cancellations.
- Answer incoming calls and voicemails to the Compliance Department.
- Back up other Compliance and Carrier Relations team members during time off.
- Support projects as needed by the Carrier Relations Manager.
What we are looking for
- Comfortable on the phone. You will spend much of your day on inbound and outbound calls, and you like it.
- A service mentality. You want to help carriers, and you follow through until the job is done.
- Strong communicator. Clear written and verbal communication, plus real listening skills.
- Attention to detail. You catch the small things and have the discipline to follow a process.
- Organized. Strong time management and the ability to juggle and prioritize work.
- Relationship builder. You can build trust and turn a contact into a long-term relationship.
- Technically capable. Microsoft Office, Salesforce or another CRM, and general web tools. Basic data analysis.
- Self-starter. You can run independently and work well as part of a team.
Qualifications
- College degree preferred not required, but a plus.
- At least 2 years in customer service. Hospitality or any service industry counts. Transportation, logistics, or carrier recruitment experience is a bonus, but we will train the right person.
- A team player. You have worked on a team and know how to pull your weight and back up your teammates.
- Eager to grow. You want to learn the finished vehicle logistics (FVL) business and build a career here.
- Intermediate computer skills. Comfortable with Microsoft Office and office systems and procedures.
