Job Description
Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Quality Control Technician for a contract opportunity with a leading manufacturer of specialty ingredients in Covington, VA. Position Details- Location: Covington, VA
- Pay: $20/hr
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Shift: Rotating weekly between:
- 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
- 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
- Contract Type: TBC
As a Quality Control Technician, you will perform chemical and physical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and product specifications. This role plays a critical part in supporting manufacturing operations through accurate laboratory testing, documentation, and quality assurance activities in a GMP environment.
Responsibilities- Perform chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Compare analytical results against product specifications and Certificates of Analysis (CoAs).
- Document laboratory data accurately following GLP/GMP requirements and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct routine analytical testing including titrations, particle size analysis, gravimetric analysis, pH, conductivity, melt point, color comparison, and other laboratory methods.
- Investigate and report out-of-specification (OOS) results to Quality leadership.
- Prepare, standardize, and maintain laboratory reagents and solutions.
- Perform routine calibration, verification, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety procedures.
- Collect and prepare samples for external laboratory testing.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality investigations.
- Verify operation of production quality devices such as metal detection equipment.
- Follow all laboratory safety, environmental, and PPE requirements.
- Associate degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
- Minimum one year of analytical laboratory experience (additional experience preferred).
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques and analytical testing methods.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to work in a GMP/GLP laboratory environment.
- Comfortable working a rotating shift schedule.
- Three or more years of experience in an analytical or process laboratory.
- Experience with quality investigations or OOS documentation.
- Experience performing laboratory instrument calibration and maintenance.
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and SOPs.
