In-Person | $1,300–$1,400 Per Day | Compensation Negotiable Based on Experience
OverviewFrontera Search is seeking a licensed Ophthalmologist (MD/DO) to perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) disability examinations for our nation's Veterans in their own office. This is an evaluation-only position with no surgery, ongoing patient care, treatment, medication management, or call responsibilities.
Providers conduct comprehensive eye and vision disability evaluations, complete VA Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs), and provide medical opinions when requested. All documentation is completed electronically and submitted to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to assist with disability benefit determinations. Examiners do not determine disability ratings or compensation decisions.
This opportunity offers a structured clinical environment, predictable scheduling, and the ability to focus exclusively on disability evaluations.
Compensation$1,300–$1,400 per day
Compensation negotiable based on experience
Consistent patient volume
Predictable scheduling
No production quotas
Review Veterans' service treatment records, medical records, and prior examination reports
Conduct comprehensive ophthalmologic examinations for disability evaluation purposes
Assess visual acuity, visual fields, ocular motility, external eye structures, and other vision-related conditions
Complete VA Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) accurately and thoroughly
Provide medical opinions when requested by the VA
Document examination findings electronically during each evaluation
Submit completed examinations within 24–48 hours
Follow established protocols for any medical emergencies that may arise during examinations
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology residency
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
Active, unrestricted medical license
Ability to independently perform comprehensive ophthalmologic evaluations
Strong clinical documentation and computer proficiency
Experience using electronic medical records (EMR)
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
Commitment to providing compassionate, respectful care to our Veteran population
Prior Compensation & Pension (C&P) examination experience
Previous experience working with Veterans or the Department of Veterans Affairs
Experience evaluating ocular disease, visual impairment, and vision-related disabilities
