Float Required: No
Call Requirement: Yes – 1–2 weekdays (1500–0630) and 1–2 weekends per month, shared equally among circulators
Note: Knowledge and skills in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Gynecology, and Podiatry required. Travelers may be expected to float to nearby sister facilities if needed.

Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in a short-term acute care hospital. The RN will collaborate with the surgical team to deliver patient-centered care across a variety of surgical specialties while maintaining patient safety and adhering to infection prevention and universal protocol standards.

Job duties:

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • \t
  • Circulate during orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, podiatry, trauma, and ambulatory OR procedures.
  • \t
  • Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, procedure, and surgical site using Universal Protocol (Time Out).
  • \t
  • Monitor patients receiving conscious sedation and continuously assess patient status throughout procedures.
  • \t
  • Administer blood and blood products as indicated and monitor for adverse reactions.
  • \t
  • Establish and maintain peripheral IV access and perform urinary bladder catheterization when required.
  • \t
  • Prepare, label, and handle surgical specimens according to facility protocols.
  • \t
  • Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment including electrosurgical units, Hana Table, and Steris systems.
  • \t
  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection control, radiation safety, and fire safety standards.
  • \t
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations including code responses and malignant hyperthermia events.
  • \t
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal surgical outcomes.

  • Document patient care accurately in Epic.
Requirements:

Licensure: Current RN License (Compact License required at submission)
Experience: Minimum 1 year of Operating Room RN experience; Travel experience required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
Other requirement: Professional knowledge of blood administration, cardiac monitoring, conscious sedation monitoring, infection control, radiation safety, wound management, specimen handling, peripheral IV insertion, Universal Protocol, and perioperative emergency management. Experience with orthopedic, general surgery, gynecology, trauma, podiatry, and endoscopic procedures preferred.
