Physician - Emergency Medicine

Job Details:

• Locum Tenens position at a Critical Access Hospital providing coverage during a limited window of increased need


• Coverage dates include July 16th through August 10th, August 19th through August 28th, with October shifts also probable


• Approximately four 10-hour shifts per week, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with overnight beeper call


• Providers must be willing and able to cover emergency room, outpatient/primary care, and OB/C-sections if needed in emergency situations


• Small rural hospital covering broad scope of care with patient transfers out as necessary


• Approximately 4 patient encounters per shift


• Board Certified physicians required; preference for Board Certified Family Practice providers with rural health experience including ED, Hospitalist, or OB background


• Active license or IMLC required; DEA required


• Required certifications include ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS


• Newborn deliveries are received in the ED; Trauma Level 4 facility


• Hospital apartments available for lodging during assignment; no pets permitted


• Travel via flight into Anchorage, then regional flight or ground shuttle into Valdez

This is a small Critical Access Hospital serving a rural Alaskan community with a broad scope of clinical services. The facility provides emergency, outpatient, primary care, and obstetric services, transferring higher acuity patients as necessary. The hospital is committed to delivering quality healthcare to its remote community and offers on-site lodging accommodations to support locum providers during their assignment.
