American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med Surg RN for a day shift position requiring 5+ years of experience, Cerner EHR proficiency, and prior travel experience.

- Hospital-based Med Surg unit providing observation and/or inpatient care \n
- Day shift schedule: 0615-1845, 3 days per week (12-hour shifts) \n
- 36 guaranteed hours per week \n
- Cerner EHR/EMR experience required \n
- Uses Care Compass to organize and document assessments, care tasks, procedures, and patient education \n
- Utilizes infusion pumps and cardiac monitoring equipment \n
- \n
- Active CO RN license or compact license, or ability to obtain licensure, in good standing \n
- Minimum of 5 years of Med Surg or Emergency Room experience required \n
- Previous travel nursing experience required \n
- Graduate of an accredited RN program \n
- Current BLS certification required \n
- Current ACLS certification required (or completion within 3 months of start) \n
- Current PALS certification required (or completion within 3 months of start) \n
- Cerner EHR/EMR experience required \n
- Basic computer skills and electronic health record experience required \n
- Ability to perform heavy work including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and assisting with patient movement and positioning \n

- Provide comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, nursing interventions, reassessments, and evaluation of care \n
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and report abnormal findings to the appropriate provider \n
- Administer medications, IV therapy, oxygen therapy, blood products, and other treatments accurately and timely \n
- Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation with appropriate action when needed \n
- Provide patient and family education related to disease process, treatment plans, medications, pain management, wound care, discharge planning, and follow-up care \n
- Transfer care using SBAR format when appropriate \n
- Follow infection prevention practices, universal precautions, and National Patient Safety Goals \n
- Collaborate with providers, staff, and other departments to support interdisciplinary patient care \n
- Serve as a mentor to other nursing staff and support continuous learning \n
- Work in a hospital setting with exposure to work stress, environmental stress, frequent interruptions, and moderate noise \n
- Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable disease, radiation, chemicals, and hazardous materials \n
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, service excellence, sound judgment, adaptability, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment \n
