Roles & Responsibilities

• Function as the Certified Surgical First Assistant during surgical procedures.
• Provide direct intraoperative assistance to surgeons, including tissue handling, exposure, hemostasis, suturing, and wound closure.
• Assist with patient positioning, surgical site preparation, and sterile draping.
• Maintain a sterile field and adhere to aseptic techniques.
• Assist with orthopedic, neurosurgical, general, ENT, and trauma procedures.
• Perform Surgical Technologist duties when needed.
• Assist with room turnover and preparation between surgical cases.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, circulating nurses, and OR staff.
• Float to outpatient surgery as assigned.
• Participate in weekday, weekend, and holiday call rotations.

Mandatory Experience

• Minimum 1 year of Certified Surgical First Assistant experience in the specialty.
• 2–3 previous travel assignments required.
• Must be proficient in assisting with orthopedic surgery (hard requirement).
• Orthopedic and Neurosurgery experience preferred.
• Experience in an acute care operating room.
• Ability to work as both a Surgical First Assistant and Surgical Technologist when required.
