Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring IN or Compact RN license and prior travel nursing experience.

  • Work in the PACU (Phase I) of a Level 1 Trauma Center hospital, open and staffed 24/7
  • \n
  • Receive patients from all surgical specialties except open heart surgery, including neuro, ortho, PV, thoracic, urology, gyn, plastics, and peds
  • \n
  • Average daily census of 65-85 patients
  • \n
  • Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours (11:00 AM - 11:30 PM)
  • \n
  • Call requirement of approximately 12-24 hours within a 6-week schedule block
  • \n
  • Required to work or be on-call for 1 holiday during the contract
  • \n
  • Floating is required to other units within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
  • \n
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start date
  • \n
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (preferred)
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
  • \n
  • Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
  • \n
  • ICU/PCU experience preferred
  • \n
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • \n
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • \n
  • Experience with intubated and ventilated patients required
  • \n
  • Surgical services experience across neuro, ortho, PV, thoracic, urology, gyn, plastics, and peds cases
  • \n
  • Graduated from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
  • \n
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • \n
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • \n
Additional Information\n
    \n
  • Provide post-anesthesia care to a high-acuity patient population in a large, fast-paced facility
  • \n
  • Frequently receives critical care patients, especially neuro cases
  • \n
  • Must be comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • \n
  • In-state (IN) residents are considered local candidates and may be offered a lower pay package for this Surgical Services position
  • \n
  • Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • \n
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • \n
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • \n
  • Previous perm or PRN employees of this health system must be away for 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • \n
  • Current or past travelers with 12 months of cumulative travel employment within this health system must take a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
