Job Title

Registered Nurse – Surgical Acute (Nights)

Location

Hilo, HI

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | Three 12-hour shifts per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care for adult surgical patients on a 34-bed unit
• Care for patients undergoing procedures including abdominal surgeries (lap chole, appendectomy), mastectomies, thyroidectomies, and management of chest tubes and surgical drains
• Operate and monitor equipment including vital signs machines, IV and PCA pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Document patient care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR/WOWS)
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Float to other units or departments as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active State of Hawaii RN license required by assignment start date
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse with proficiency in surgical pre- and post-operative care
• Current BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills consistent with RPN III level practice

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with a broad range of surgical specialties including general, thoracic, and oncologic procedures
• Familiarity with PCA pump management and complex drain care in a post-operative setting
