About this job
Job Description
General Manager – Scooter's Coffee (Graham, NC)
***Why This Role is Different***
This is the ground floor. We're opening our Graham location and building a portfolio of stores across the area, which means the right General Manager for this first store won't just run one unit. As we grow, you grow. Strong performers will have a genuine path into District Manager and larger group leadership roles with significant financial benefits as more stores come online.
If you want a job, this is a great one, but if you want a career and the chance to help build something from the start, this is even better.
You'll be working with deeply committed local owners who are opening multiple locations across the area and whose first priority will always be our people. Building a great place to work, encouraging the team and creating an environment where staff feel supported is what matters most to us.
What You'll Do
As General Manager, you own everything that happens inside your store: the people, the sales, the operations and the experience. You'll build and lead a friendly, service-oriented barista team, set a high-energy pace, drive sales, grow profit, and bring an engaged, hands-on leadership style that reflects our core values every day.
Lead the Team
- Interview, hire, train and develop staff to deliver every company standard in customer experience and operations
- Provide ongoing coaching and development, identifying what motivates each person and giving clear, constructive feedback to reinforce or improve performance
- Hold the team accountable through a progressive discipline process, partnering with your Field Brand Consultant and, when needed, Human Resources on termination decisions
- Build daily and weekly schedules around business needs, using a varied schedule to develop employees and maximize sales across all hours
- Encourage full team participation in setting store goals and building action plans to reach them
Deliver the Experience
- Ensure a consistent, quality customer experience through proper staffing, precise execution of brand beverage recipes and techniques, and the Scooter's "Amazing" service standard
- Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, visual merchandising, food safety standards and equipment
- Anticipate and respond to customer needs before you're asked
Run the Business
- Grow store profitability by finding ways to increase sales and manage expenses
- Hit company standards on personal and store sales and performance metrics
- Ensure all cash handling, point of sale, safety and operational procedures are accurate and consistent
- Maintain daily, weekly and quarterly financial reports
- Hold final accountability for store operations
What You Bring
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment
- A real passion for working with and developing people
- The ability to teach, lead and bring out the best in a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- An energetic, fast-paced, flexible work style
- Strong problem-solving, multitasking and administrative skills
- The ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
A Few Logistics
- You'll travel to Dallas, TX for barista training in July (expenses paid), then commute to an open NC store to continue training before the Graham location opens.
Benefits
- Employee discount
- Flexible schedule
- Paid time off
- Maternity leave
- Health insurance will likely be offered within the first six months of store opening
