Job Title: Sign Assembly Technician
Job Description

The Sign Assembly Technician plays a key role on the production team by assembling high-quality custom signs, displays, and visual products for a wide range of commercial and industrial customers. This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and enjoys hands-on work that combines electrical assembly, mechanical fabrication, and precise application of graphics.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble illuminated and non-illuminated signs, displays, and visual products according to specifications, production drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform electrical wiring and circuit assembly for sign lighting and electronic components in accordance with schematics and safety guidelines.
  • Install and connect LED lighting systems, transformers, power supplies, and related electrical components to ensure proper function and illumination.
  • Apply vinyl graphics, decals, and lettering to sign and display surfaces with accuracy, alignment, and attention to detail.
  • Assemble mechanical components, frames, hardware, and structural elements of signs using hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to complete assembly tasks correctly and efficiently.
  • Inspect finished products to verify they meet quality standards, dimensional tolerances, and customer specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and spray guns safely and effectively during assembly and finishing processes.
  • Assist various production departments as needed, including fabrication, finishing, packaging, and shipping to support overall workflow.
  • Perform crimping, electronic assembly, and basic troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical issues as required.
  • Operate production machinery and equipment associated with sign manufacturing and light industrial work.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all company safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with team members, communicate effectively, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented production environment.
Essential Skills
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, electrical work, sign production, or construction is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform mechanical assembly and work confidently with metal and aluminum components.
  • Ability to read and use measuring tools accurately, including tape measures and other measurement devices.
  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring and circuitry, including familiarity with schematics and wiring practices.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely, including tools for cutting, fastening, crimping, and finishing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and production drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods in a production environment.
  • Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to assist across multiple departments and support various stages of production.
  • Comfort working in a general labor and light industrial manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in sign manufacturing and production is a plus.
  • Background in electrical assembly, including LED lighting installation, is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with vinyl application, decals, and lettering on various surfaces.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting basic electrical and mechanical issues in a production environment.
  • Experience with machine operation and production manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work from industrial blueprints and schematics with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort using spray guns and related finishing equipment.
  • Strong basic math skills for measurements and layout.
  • Interest in fabrication, engineering concepts, and working with metals in a manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a light industrial manufacturing facility focused on custom sign and display production. The position follows a day shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing consistent daytime hours. Work is hands-on and performed on the production floor, using a variety of hand tools, power tools, spray guns, measuring equipment, and production machinery. The environment involves working with metals such as aluminum, electrical components, LED lighting systems, vinyl graphics, and general fabrication materials. Team members spend extended periods standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and moving between different production areas including fabrication, finishing, packaging, and shipping. Safety procedures and quality standards are strongly emphasized to maintain a clean, organized, and secure workspace, with practical work attire suitable for a manufacturing and fabrication setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
