Lead a Skilled Machining Team with a Company Built on Quality
Thern, Inc. is seeking a hands-on CNC Turning Production Team Lead to coordinate the daily activities of an assigned machining team while actively participating in CNC turning operations. This role combines technical machining expertise with day-to-day team leadership to ensure production goals, quality standards, and customer expectations are consistently achieved.
The ideal candidate will have strong CNC turning experience, leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as a working leader overseeing the daily efforts of an assigned CNC machining team.
- Coordinate daily work assignments based on production schedules, team skillsets, and planner direction.
- Lead daily shift startup meetings and communicate production priorities.
- Support employee training, cross-training, and skill development.
- Troubleshoot machining and production issues and serve as the first point of escalation during the shift.
- Setup, program, modify, and operate CNC turning equipment using engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform tooling changes, offsets, program adjustments, and first-piece inspections.
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T requirements, process sheets, and machining specifications.
- Monitor machinist productivity and ensure proper machining and inspection procedures are followed.
- Perform and document in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, tooling, cycle times, and scrap reduction.
- Validate weekly time entries and coordinate PTO requests with leadership.
- Maintain compliance with Safety, Quality, ISO, and company standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
What We're Looking For:
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent machining experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience, preferably in CNC turning operations.
- Previous leadership, lead, or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with CNC programming, machine setup, tooling selection, and process troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T requirements, and machining drawings.
- Strong understanding of precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety and quality standards.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Experience with Hurco CNC equipment is a plus.
