American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN for a 13-week travel assignment at an acute care hospital in Texas, requiring active TX or compact RN licensure and TNCC certification.
Details- Acute care hospital Emergency Room (ER) setting with 19 beds and 3 trauma bays
- Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, GI, psych, COPD, and other respiratory illnesses
- Patient volume of approximately 70–95 patients per day
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1
- Separate triage area available; triage is not required but may be performed by qualified travelers
- ER holds are intermixed within the ER and managed by ER RNs
- Two convertible rooms available for psychiatric patients
- In-house security on site
- RT performs ABGs and breathing treatments; vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen available
- Telemetry monitoring available on unit; RNs read their own strips with no monitor techs
- Portable X-ray available in the ER; CT is nearby; radiology techs handle transport
- Both nurse and phlebotomy draws performed
- EMR: Paragon (Allscripts)
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a–7p
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required on an A & B rotation
- No on-call or standby requirement
- No floating required
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Active TX RN license or compact (NLC) RN license currently in hand; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ED/ER nursing experience required
- Required certifications (active, no pending accepted): BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
- A driver's license is required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Staffed with 1 ED physician and 2 mid-levels per shift, with a charge nurse and patient care techs on the team
- 12-hour orientation included
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
