Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable professional to provide direct support, supervision, and guidance to young people in a structured care environment. The ideal candidate is committed to promoting safety, stability, and positive development while building respectful and supportive relationships with youth. Services would be done throughout WAUKESHA COUNTY.
Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support to youth in a safe and nurturing setting.
- Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Support youth in developing life skills, coping strategies, and healthy routines.
- Monitor behavior, well-being, and engagement, and respond appropriately to individual needs.
- De-escalate conflicts and use trauma-informed, youth-centered approaches when addressing challenging situations.
- Assist with homework, recreational activities, group programs, and community-based outings as needed.
- Document observations, incidents, and progress accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with coworkers, case managers, families, and other service providers to support care plans and goals.
- Follow agency policies, safety procedures, and mandated reporting requirements.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for all youth.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, or young adults in a care, educational, residential, or human services setting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care, youth development, and positive behavior support is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or overnight shifts as needed.
- Background in residential care, group homes, foster care, detention, behavioral health, or similar settings.
- Training in crisis intervention, de-escalation, CPR, or First Aid.
- Knowledge of strength-based and culturally responsive care practices.
