Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Machine Operator to operate extrusion and thermoforming equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for producing quality parts, meeting production standards, following established procedures, and supporting overall plant efficiency through equipment monitoring, documentation, housekeeping, and material handling.
Schedule: Monday–Friday 7AM-7PM Starting Pay: $18/hour
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Follow all safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment, including responsible operation of machinery and proper handling of materials and chemicals.
• Adhere to company GMPs and wear all required personal protective equipment.
• Start up and shut down process equipment according to established procedures and production schedules.
• Initiate machine shutdowns in emergency situations and promptly communicate concerns to leadership.
• Operate inline production equipment in accordance with production schedules and product specifications.
• Monitor equipment during production runs and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Perform minor maintenance and routine equipment checks to support production requirements.
• Identify defects or suspect product, remove affected items from the line, and report concerns to supervisors and Quality Control.
• Troubleshoot machinery and process issues when product quality does not meet specifications.
• Notify the Plant Manager or designated representative when product does not meet required standards.
• Complete required production documentation, including production reports, quality checks, material changes, downtime, scrap, and quantities produced.
• Maintain accurate, legible, and detailed production records.
• Clean and sanitize machinery and surrounding work areas to reduce downtime and support optimal equipment performance.
• Pack product and provide break relief for team members as needed.
• Grind startup plastic and defective process parts.
• Unload trucks as required and complete related documentation.
• Palletize finished product, apply tracer tickets, document product, and wrap pallets for shipment or storage.
• Maintain and monitor auxiliary raw materials used in the extrusion process.
• Perform daily, weekly, and quarterly maintenance tasks on assigned equipment.
• Support housekeeping efforts by grinding startup scrap, handling defective parts, and baling packaging materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
• Ability to safely use assistive devices for lifting, pulling, and pushing, including lift trucks, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and hoists.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong ability to multitask and work in a logical, organized, and effective manner under pressure.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to learn and demonstrate strong attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and weekends as needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, and work on concrete surfaces for extended periods.
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Sheet extrusion and thermoforming experience preferred.
• Experience with Davis-Standard extruders and TSL thermoformers preferred.
• Machine operation experience on similar manufacturing equipment preferred.
• Forklift and aerial lift experience preferred.
