Qualifications
Required Education:
Associate degree (or equivalent) in nursing from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Required Experience:
Two (2) years of registered nursing experience and two (2) years of International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) experience
Preferred Experience:
Advanced lactation consultant training.
Two (2) to five (5) years of obstetrical registered nursing experience.
Five (5) years of lactation consult experience.
Required Certification/License/Registry:
Licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in accordance with Florida Statutes (F.S.), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 464 (Nursing), Part I (Nurse Practice Act) [includes multistate compact licensure].
IBCLC credential from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).

Responsibilities
Job Summary:
- Provides and coordinates outpatient breastfeeding care.
- Demonstrates an understanding of diversity.
- Demonstrates integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence (I CARE values).
- Enhances and contributes to a safe environment for all colleagues, visitors, and patients.
- Communicates effectively with breastfeeding mothers, physicians, and colleagues to provide essential breastfeeding support in-person, virtually, and via telephone.
- Educates staff members and community members in breastfeeding techniques.
- Oversees weekly breastfeeding support group.
- Assists in the breastfeeding retail store.
- Updates resources and documentation.
- Performs other duties.
