Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
This role is based on a machine shop floor alongside a small team of approximately ten machinists. You will hollow out metal bars to precise diameters for use in future medical device production. The position requires working autonomously with periodic check-ins with a supervisor and production management, following a 4x10 schedule and consistently meeting tight measurement and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC and other machining equipment to hollow out metal bars to specified diameters for medical device components.
- Work independently on the machine shop floor while coordinating with supervisors and production management during scheduled check-ins.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and manuals to understand machining requirements and specifications.
- Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations related to measurements, dimensions, and machining adjustments.
- Set up machines as needed, including selecting appropriate tooling and verifying proper machine configuration when applicable.
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain quality, efficiency, and equipment safety.
- Conduct grinding operations, including centerless grinding where applicable, to achieve required finishes and dimensions.
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy, surface quality, and conformance to specifications, documenting any deviations as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop-floor standards and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with other machinists to share best practices and support overall production goals while working in a small-team environment.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of metal machining experience.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC machines and performing machining operations.
- Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical manuals.
- Strong basic math skills for measurements and machining calculations.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- Experience with grinding operations, including centerless grinding.
- Familiarity with lathe, mill, and grinder equipment in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Understanding of tooling requirements and machine setup is preferred.
- Centerless grinding experience is a strong plus.
- Experience as a CNC machinist or grinder operator is beneficial.
- Experience in precision manufacturing or medical device-related machining is advantageous.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
