Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations for a manufacturing organization in Auburn, Maine. This is a Contract position suited for an organized individual who can manage core financial activities with accuracy and consistency. The ideal candidate will contribute to timely period-end reporting, maintain ledger integrity, and help ensure reconciliations are completed thoroughly.

Responsibilities:
• Lead assigned close-cycle accounting tasks to help deliver accurate month-end financial results on schedule.
• Prepare and record journal entries with appropriate support, ensuring transactions are classified correctly in the financial records.
• Maintain and review general ledger activity to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and preserve reporting accuracy.
• Perform account reconciliations regularly, investigating variances and following through on outstanding items.
• Complete bank reconciliations by matching cash activity, researching exceptions, and correcting differences as needed.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial information required for reporting and account analysis.
• Support documentation and audit readiness by maintaining organized records for reconciliations, entries, and ledger adjustments.• At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing month-end close responsibilities in a deadline-driven setting.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Hands-on experience with account reconciliations and bank reconciliation processes.
• Ability to analyze financial data, identify irregularities, and resolve issues accurately.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
