Job Description:

The Graduate Teaching Assistant supports faculty in maintaining and stocking the laboratory, delivering pharmaceutics compounding laboratory instruction, facilitates student learning, ensures compliance with laboratory standards, and assists with course-related activities.

Job Location & Hours:

The student employee will perform most or all job duties at: FWSOP – Congdon Budling

Work hours may vary depending on departmental needs; however, student employees are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week. This position requires up to 15 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist faculty in lab preparation, instruction, and supervision of compounding activities
  • Support student skill development in dosage form preparation, calculations, and aseptic technique
  • Ensure adherence to safety and laboratory protocols
  • Prepare materials and maintain lab inventory and organization

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in the HPU PharmD Program
  • Strong background in pharmaceutics and/or compounding
  • Effective communication and organizational skills

Desired Skills:

  • Attention to detail: High precision in following formulations, labeling, and documentation
  • Teaching support skills: Ability to explain concepts clearly and assist students with hands-on techniques
  • Organization & time management: Ability to manage lab preparation, workflow, and multiple tasks efficiently
  • Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot formulation issues and student questions in real time
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with faculty and other teaching assistants
