Burlington School District is seeking a passionate and energetic Library Support Paraprofessional to assist in the Library/Learning Center. While performing these assigned duties, the Library Support Paraprofessional will be responsible for the daily operations of the center, its equipment, assisting community memebers. The ideal candidate will have the ability to efficiently multitask and assist the Library Media Specialist in operating and implementing the educational objectives of the Learning Center. Excellent organizational skills are required for this position in order to support students, staff, and community members in accessing library print and technology-based resources. Responsibilities include clerical operations to complete the necessary paperwork needed to operate the library automation system. This position will work with students of varying educational levels and abilities and diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Assist the Library Media Specialist in supervising and helping all students and staff with access to library resources. - Provide support to the Library Media Specialist in the accurate management of circulation, cataloging, and processing of all materials that enter and exit the library, including preparing overdue notices. - Assisting students and staff with basic technology tasks. - Operating the library automation system and preparing reports. - Managing and maintaining the physical library space including reshelving materials - Handling interlibrary loan materials within the Burlington School District - Book mending and repair of damaged materials. - Help maintain appropriate student behavior in the library. - Other tasks required by the Library Media Specialist or Administration. QUALIFICATIONS: - Education: - Minimum Required: High school diploma, plus at least 2 years in additional education. - Experience: - Minimum Requirement: 2 years of experience in Education or related field. - Library Experience preferred - General knowledge: - Familiarity with children’s literature. - Sufficient knowledge of a field to perform most work in normal situations. The work calls for comprehension of standard situations and includes knowledge of most of the significant aspects of the subject. - Specific Skills And/Or Abilities: - Proficient - Google Suite - Effective communication with students, parents, and school staff - Excellent organizational skills - Bonus: Enjoys Reading! The working conditions of this position include: - The work environment is a regular school library setting - Air-conditioned as well as un-air conditioned buildings - Ability to tolerate extremes in noise levels - Ability to tolerate stressful situations and maintain proper decorum - Able to handle frequent standing and walking, bending and stooping, squatting and crouching SALARY: As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Paraeducators of the Burlington School District.
