Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician with at least 3 years of industrial manufacturing experience to support maintenance operations at a steel pipe production facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing industrial electrical systems and automated production equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting continuous production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Troubleshoot and repair electrical, automation, and control systems on steel pipe manufacturing equipment
· Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production machinery and facility systems
· Maintain and troubleshoot:
o Tube mills and roll forming equipment
o Flying saw systems
o HF welders and induction systems
o PLC-controlled machinery
o Motors, drives, sensors, encoders, and control panels
o Hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
· Diagnose issues using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and test instruments
· Install, wire, and commission motors, VFDs, sensors, switches, relays, and electrical components
· Perform electrical panel troubleshooting and modifications
· Support equipment startups, commissioning, and line changeovers
· Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability
· Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and plant safety procedures
· Work closely with operations, engineering, and mechanical maintenance teams to minimize downtime
· Maintain accurate maintenance logs, PM records, and spare parts inventory
Required Qualifications
· Minimum 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
· Experience working in steel pipe, tube mill, roll forming, or heavy industrial manufacturing preferred
· Strong knowledge of:
o Industrial electrical systems (480V, 240V, 120V)
o PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
o Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
o Motors, relays, contactors, and control circuits
o Electrical panels and industrial automation systems
· Ability to read and interpret:
o Electrical schematics
o Wiring diagrams
o P&IDs and technical manuals
· Experience using electrical diagnostic tools such as multimeters, megohmmeters, and clamp meters
· Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics preferred
· Ability to troubleshoot equipment under pressure and respond quickly to breakdowns
Education & Certifications
· High school diploma or GED required
· Technical degree or certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field preferred
· Licensed Industrial Electrician preferred but not required
· OSHA and NFPA 70E training preferred
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work around industrial equipment for extended periods
· Comfortable working in hot, noisy, and fast-paced manufacturing environments
· Ability to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts as needed
