Job Description
Title: Prior Authorization Specialist
Location: RenCen - Tower 500, Detroit MI
Dept: Pharmacy Help Desk Comm
The expectation is they would be work fully remote, but we would offer the option to work on site in the case of extenuating circumstances where they're not able to work their shift from home that day (power outage, internet service down, etc)
Engagement Description –
Support major health care payer providers (pharmacists and physicians) with Medicare Part D and/or Commercial pharmacy/ specialty drug benefits analysis, drug coverage inquiries and prior authorizations. High School Graduate of GED equivalent required. Two (2) years of college preferred. Two (2) years' experience in retail pharmacy required. Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) preferred. Knowledge of prescription drug names, therapeutic classes and claims processing.
Top 3 Required Skills/Experience –
• 2 years of retail pharmacy experience
• Computer and Microsoft office experience
• Customer Service
Required Skills/Experience – The rest of the required skills/experience. Include:
• Basic Pharmacy and medical terminology
• Pharmacy claim adjudication experience
• Knowledge of basic drug classes
Preferred Skills/Experience – Optional but preferred skills/experience. Include:
• Certified Pharmacy Technician
Education/Certifications – Include:
• High School Diploma
