Job Description

The VDC / BIM Specialist plays a key role in managing and executing Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes across complex projects, including work in semiconductors, data centers, and commercial construction. This position leads the development, coordination, and maintenance of project models and documentation, provides technical BIM support to project teams, and ensures that all VDC deliverables and schedules align with project objectives and owner requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage VDC processes and activities to support assigned projects from planning through execution.
  • Provide BIM models and documentation required to complete the project scope in alignment with VDC/BIM leadership and project teams.
  • Create and maintain clear and effective project documentation, including meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and constraint logs.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, submittals, and product data, and incorporate all relevant information into the BIM process.
  • Support operations teams with the Request for Information (RFI) process for BIM-related items.
  • Manage and maintain a productive and efficient BIM workflow that supports project schedules and deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with VDC directors and self-perform VDC teams to ensure general VDC services, deliverables, and schedules meet project objectives.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with owners, subcontractors, and project teams to support effective coordination.
  • Read and interpret owner requirements, BIM execution plans, and front-end scopes of work, ensuring all minimum project requirements are met.
  • Develop composite models by assembling 3D content provided by designers and trade contractors, and create additional model content when it is not provided.
  • Lead the implementation and adherence to VDC processes and standards across assigned projects.
  • Manage the change process by updating all project models, and track and communicate schedule and budget impacts to operations teams in a timely manner.
  • Provide BIM technical support and guidance to internal project teams, helping resolve modeling and coordination issues.
  • Ensure that all BIM and VDC deliverables are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project goals and industry best practices.
Essential Skills
  • 3 to 5+ years of BIM-related experience in construction or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency with BIM and VDC processes, including model creation, coordination, and change management.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, submittals, product data, and owner requirements.
  • Strong skills in creating and maintaining project documentation, such as meeting agendas, minutes, and constraint logs.
  • Experience using Autodesk Revit for architectural, structural, or MEP design and modeling.
  • Working knowledge of Navisworks for model coordination and clash detection.
  • Understanding of construction practices and construction documents, particularly in commercial and industrial environments.
  • Ability to support and collaborate effectively with project teams, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey schedule and budget impacts related to BIM changes.
  • Capability to provide technical BIM support to internal project teams and troubleshoot modeling issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree in Architecture or Engineering, preferably with a focus on MEP disciplines.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit MEP and familiarity with electrical and architectural modeling workflows.
  • Exposure to projects in semiconductors, data centers, and commercial construction environments.
  • Experience with Trimble SketchUp for 3D modeling and visualization.
  • Familiarity with BIM 360 for cloud-based model collaboration and project coordination.
  • Experience using Bluebeam for digital document review and markups.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D drafting and integration with BIM workflows.
  • Ability to develop composite models by assembling 3D content from designers and trade contractors and creating additional content as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple BIM tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
Work Environment

This role operates in a collaborative project environment that supports complex work in semiconductors, data centers, and commercial construction. You will work closely with project teams, owners, and subcontractors, using a variety of design and coordination technologies such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, Trimble SketchUp, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD. The position involves a mix of focused computer-based modeling and coordination work, participation in project meetings, and ongoing communication with operations teams.
