Job Description\n

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing and developing individualized treatment plans for patients. This position involves delegating tasks to Occupational Therapist Assistants and Aides while following occupational therapy standards, physician orders, and regulatory policies.

Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Evaluate the patient’s function through formal and informal assessments to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, developmental, social, and cognitive functions.
  • \n
  • Develop a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient's tolerance to carry out the treatment plan as prescribed.
  • \n
  • Submit a written treatment regime to be included in the plan of treatment authorized by the physician, and update the plan of care as needed.
  • \n
  • Devise a treatment schedule that is frequency and duration specific, discussed with the patient/family/caregiver, and coordinated with clinical support staff.
  • \n
  • Educate patients, families, and/or caregivers regarding their condition, treatment alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through various modalities.
  • \n
  • Supervise Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students per affiliate and regulatory standards.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure\n
    \n
  • Active Michigan Occupational Therapist License.
  • \n
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • \n
  • Experience in Pediatric Occupational Therapy is required.
  • \n
  • Minimum one year of relevant occupational therapy experience.
  • \n
  • Skills Checklist, current to 1 year, pertaining to Occupational Therapy.
  • \n
  • Two Supervisory Reference Forms completed within the last two years.
