Shift: Day Shift 5 x8 (08:30 am - 04:30 pm) 40 hours per week
Position Overview:
The Radiology Specialist Assistant provides patient care services in accordance with approved delineation of privileges under the supervision of a physician. This role delivers age-appropriate care across the lifespan and supports the continuum of care through clinical expertise, patient assessment, and collaboration with the healthcare team.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years of Radiology Specialist Assistant experience
• Graduate of an approved course of study acceptable to NYSED
• Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field required
• Certification as Radiologist Assistant (RA) or Physician Assistant (PA) with radiology focus preferred
Certifications:
• Current ARRT Certification in Radiography
• Additional certifications (CT, Ultrasound, IR, RRA) highly desirable
• BLS – AHA required
• ACLS – AHA preferred
• Registered Radiologist Assistant (as applicable)
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide medical services within scope of practice and assigned privileges
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments using age-specific principles
• Deliver safe, high-quality, compassionate care
• Assist supervising physician with radiologic procedures and patient management
• Maintain efficient patient flow and clinical workload organization
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations
• Ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, hospital policies, and regulatory standards
• Maintain strict confidentiality of PHI
Procedural Experience Required:
• Fluoroscopic procedures including barium studies (Upper GI, SBFT, enemas)
• Joint injections under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance
• Paracentesis and thoracentesis
• Abscess drain placement (US/CT guided)
• Bone marrow biopsies
• Ultrasound and CT-guided biopsies
• Ultrasound-guided & stereotactic breast biopsies with marker placement
• Documentation of procedures and patient outcomes
• Patient education, consent, and post-procedure care
• Adherence to radiation safety and infection control standards
