Job Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures."

  • Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as"appropriate"sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies."
  • Hands required/requested instruments and supplies to"surgeon"during surgery.""
  • Assists"with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients."
  • Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks"instruments counts"throughout procedures."
  • Places"equipment and supplies in the operating"or labor & delivery"rooms"and arranges instruments according to preference cards.""Cleans"and checks"equipment"area."
  • Hands"instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other technical tasks as directed by surgeon during operation.""Orders, stocks, and"maintains"supplies for the"OR and"C-section suites."
  • Organizes"in"preparation for end of case and"assists"in"clean"up and turnover of rooms.""Disposes"of all sharps, biohazardous waste items appropriately.""Handles"specimens properly."
  • Reports"observations of changes in"patient's"conditions and level of consciousness to an RN or LPN"in a timely manner."

  • Minimum Requirements
    • Education: High School Diploma or GED. Completion of Surgical Technologists course from an accredited facility."
    • Experience:
      • Must be able to work variable shifts,"holidays"and/or weekends.""
      • Must be able to take call rotation when required.
      • Must be able to perform all duties, including lifting and transferring, using proper body mechanics."
    • Licensure/Certifications: BLS
  • Preferred Requirements
    • Experience:
      • Knowledge"of hospital environment desired."
      • Previous"hospital and/or health care related experience preferred
    • Licensure/Certifications: CST (Certified Surgical Technologist)"
