Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Telemetry/Med-Surg position in South Dakota, requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active SD or compact RN license.

  • 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
  • \n
  • Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting with 12 Med/Surg beds
  • \n
  • Patient population includes medical-surgical, intermediate-level, and outpatient infusion cases across all diagnoses including stroke, MI, and trauma
  • \n
  • Patient ratio of 1:4–6 on Med/Surg
  • \n
  • Team nursing approach involving RN, RT, and Imaging
  • \n
  • CNA support available with a ratio of 1–2 techs per 6–12 patients
  • \n
  • Charge nurse available 24/7, covering Med/Surg, ED, and outpatient
  • \n
  • RT available in-house Monday–Friday, 7am–3pm (no on-call)
  • \n
  • Phlebotomy available on campus during business hours, then on-call
  • \n
  • Charting system: Epic and Space Lab
  • \n
  • Weekend rotation is self-scheduled with no set weekends — the entire team rotates
  • \n
  • No on-call requirements
  • \n
  • Floating within scope of practice and below
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active SD RN license or compact RN license required
  • \n
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS; CPI preferred
  • \n
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required (can be a mix of ED and Med/Surg experience)
  • \n
  • Medical-surgical inpatient care experience required
  • \n
  • Experience with a team nursing model (RN, RT, and Imaging) preferred
  • \n
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • \n
  • Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
  • \n
  • DOB and SSN required for consideration
  • \n
  • Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • \n
Additional Information\n
    \n
  • Orientation includes time with the manager, Epic/iLearn online training, and one preceptored shift
  • \n
  • Time-off requests must be approved prior to the start of the contract
  • \n
  • Holiday coverage will be assigned as needed
  • \n
  • RNs are required to wear navy blue scrubs
  • \n
  • In the event of a Condition Snow declaration, travelers are expected to remain on shift or arrive early, consistent with facility staff expectations
  • \n
  • First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on interview and fit
  • \n
  • Former permanent staff must wait a full year before returning to the facility as a traveler
  • \n
