Do you enjoy turning drawings into finished structures? In this role, you will bring plans to life by fitting and assembling the steel frameworks that power marine construction.

What you will do

• Study blueprints, drawings, and layout specifications to understand dimensions and sequence.
• Position, fit, and align structural parts for ships, barges, and marine vessels before final weld-out.
• Measure precisely; perform cutting and grinding to achieve exact tolerances.
• Tack components securely and prepare materials and joints for welding operations.
• Operate shipyard equipment, including hand and power tools, cutting torches, and grinders.
