CDR General Services is seeking a skilled and dependable Class A Ship Welder to join our team near Paducah, Kentucky, with experience working in barge repair. The ideal candidate for this position will be a motivated individual with strong work ethics, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details
- Job Type: Full-Time
- Job Location: Paducah, KY
- Pay Rate: $27 per hour
- Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality welding on structural steel and barge components
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings
- Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, fitting, and positioning components
- Perform welding using approved processes (Flux Core, Stick/SMAW, MIG as required)
- Inspect welds to ensure strength, quality, and compliance with specifications
- Repair and fabricate barge structures including plates, frames, and bulkheads
- Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, and cutting equipment safely
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production goals
Requirements
- Previous experience in barge repair or marine welding preferred
- Strong knowledge of structural welding processes (Flux Core and Stick required)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
- Skilled in the use of welding tools, grinders, and measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Reliable transportation required
- Strong commitment to safety, attendance, and productivity
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
