Schedule: 11pm to 7:30 am with rotating weekends
Salary: $54,000 + $2.50/hr Shift Differential for overnight hours
Sign-On Bonus: $2,000

About the roleHampton-Newport News Community Services Board is hiring an overnight LPN to work at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center in Hampton, VA. This position supports safe, accurate medication services for adults receiving behavioral health and substance use treatment, partnering closely with the clinic psychiatrist and care team.
Key responsibilities include medication ordering/dispensing, administration and documentation (including controlled substances and methadone when applicable), routine physical and mental health nursing assessments, supportive counseling during care encounters, intake and follow-up interviews, maintaining inventories, and completing required records and reports.
Required qualifications/skills:
- Graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program
- One year of medication administration experience in substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care, or long-term care (including dispensing narcotic medication)

As the overnight LPN, you'll begin by reviewing handoff notes, MARs, and any new or time-sensitive orders, then prioritize medication passes and monitoring needs for the shift. You'll coordinate with the on-call provider as needed, answer routine medication questions, and keep documentation current so the team has clear, audit-ready records by morning. Between scheduled tasks, you'll check in with clients to support comfort and stability, complete brief reassessments, and update charts after any status changes. You'll also reconcile counts, confirm secure storage, and prepare medication-related paperwork so orders, inventory, and disposal processes remain compliant through the night.
