What your day will look like:
- Operate shears, brakes, punches, drill presses, and CNC equipment to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape, and straighten sheet metal
- Fabricate custom sheet metal products including ventilation shafts, exhaust hoods, partition frames, dust collection piping, and material handling systems
- Fit and join sheet metal components using MIG welding, Stick welding, riveting, soldering, and other fabrication methods
- Install sheet metal products according to specifications and applicable building codes
- Use rigging and hoisting equipment during installation projects
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and work specifications
- Inspect fabricated products and completed installations to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards
- Troubleshoot fabrication and installation issues and determine effective solutions
- Maintain production pace and complete projects according to established timelines
- Follow direction from supervisors and leads while also working independently when needed
- Travel to customer locations for installation projects
What we are looking for:
- Previous custom sheet metal fabrication and structural welding experience
- Strong MIG and Stick welding skills required; TIG welding experience is a plus
- Ability to pass a welding test
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and work specifications
- Experience operating metalworking and fabrication equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Strong math and measurement skills
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and consistently complete quality work
- Dependable with a strong attendance record
- Must have your own tools
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to travel 50–75%, typically in two-week to one-month increments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and customers
