Associate Attorney - Labor & Employment
Position Overview
We are seeking an Associate Attorney with a focus on Labor and Employment law to join our team. The successful candidate will represent private and public sector clients in a range of labor disputes, arbitration proceedings, and administrative hearings, including Act 111 matters. This role combines litigation, arbitration, negotiations, and client counseling to resolve workplace disputes and protect client interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in labor and employment matters before administrative agencies, arbitration panels, and state and federal courts
- Prepare and prosecute grievances, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal memoranda
- Represent clients in Act 111 hearings, arbitration proceedings, and grievance arbitrations
- Advise and counsel employers and public entities on compliance, discipline, collective bargaining, and workplace policies
- Participate in labor negotiations and support collective bargaining processes
- Conduct investigations of workplace incidents and alleged employee misconduct and prepare investigation reports
- Develop case strategy in coordination with senior attorneys and manage a docket of cases from intake through resolution
- Prepare witnesses, develop exhibits, and present cases at hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
- Maintain clear communication with clients, provide regular case updates, and deliver practical legal advice tailored to client needs
- Mentor and collaborate with junior staff and paralegals to ensure quality and timely delivery of legal services
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar
- 2+ years of substantive experience in labor and employment law, with demonstrated experience in labor disputes and arbitration
- Practical experience or exposure to Act 111 hearings is strongly preferred
- Experience representing private sector and/or public sector employers is a plus
- Proven skills in labor negotiations, grievance handling, and collective bargaining support
- Strong courtroom and arbitration advocacy skills, including preparation of briefs and oral argument
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities
- Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to counsel clients and work collaboratively within a team
- Willingness to travel to hearings and client sites as required
