Job Description
Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
Seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide inpatient adolescent psychiatric coverage. The provider will manage an adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit, participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning, and provide both scheduled coverage and after-hours call.
Compensation: Hourly Rate: $270/hr, Night Call: $585/shift, Call Back: $235/hr.
Schedule
Start Date: September 28, 2026
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Coverage Options:
Two weekends per month plus the following Monday and Tuesday or
Two weeks of full-time weekday coverage in addition to weekend coverage
Monday/Tuesday:
On-site: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Night call: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM
Weekends:
Approximately 6 hours of inpatient rounding beginning at 8:00 AM
24-hour call through 8:00 AM the following day
Practice Setting
Acute Care Hospital
Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatric Unit
Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage adolescent psychiatric inpatients
Develop individualized treatment plans
Manage psychiatric medications
Lead multidisciplinary treatment team discussions
Collaborate with parents and guardians
Complete admissions and place admission orders during call coverage
Manage challenging behaviors using therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques
Participate in weekend rounding and overnight call coverage
Patient Volume
Approximately 6–12 patients per day
EMR: Epic
Requirements
Board Certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or
Board Certified in General Psychiatry with completed Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship
Active California medical license
Strong experience with:
Child and adolescent psychopharmacology
Adolescent development and family systems
Individualized treatment planning
Multidisciplinary team leadership
Behavioral management and de-escalation
Collaboration with families and healthcare teams
Legal, educational, and safeguarding frameworks for adolescent patients
Effective communication and cultural competency
Additional Information
Credentialing timeframe: 60–90 days
COVID-19 vaccination and booster required (medical or religious exemptions accepted)
Call responsibilities include admission orders for patients arriving overnight
Travel reimbursement available per facility policy
