Job Description
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nutritional care of residents in accordance with physician orders, federal and state regulations, and facility policies. The Dietitian collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to promote optimal nutrition, hydration, and overall resident health.
Complete initial, quarterly, annual, and significant change nutritional assessments.
Develop and update individualized care plans related to nutrition and hydration.
Monitor residents at nutritional risk, including those with:
Weight loss or gain
Wounds
Dysphagia
Tube feedings
Diabetes or renal conditions
Conduct regular meal rounds and resident interviews.
Provide nutrition education to residents, families, and staff.
Review menus for nutritional adequacy and regulatory compliance.
Participate in:
Interdisciplinary care plan meetings
QAPI activities
Infection control and safety initiatives
Ensure compliance with:
CMS regulations
Massachusetts Department of Public Health standards
Facility policies and procedures
Oversee and support dietary staff as needed.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
Registered Dietitian (RD or RDN) credential.
Current state licensure or eligibility in Massachusetts.
Knowledge of long-term care regulations and documentation standards.
Preferred:
Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care.
Experience with electronic medical records.
Strong communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills.
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Typical schedule: Monday–Friday.
Occasional weekends or holidays as needed.
