Job Description
About Mergon

Mergon partners with world-leading innovators—think Tesla, BMW, Xerox, and Abbott—to design, build, and deliver sustainable components for next‑generation vehicles and equipment. We invest in our people and processes so we can do our best work every day and continue shaping a cleaner future.

A day in this role

Your shift begins with a blueprint. You review tolerances, select material and tooling, and choose the right welding process for the job. You prep stock, set up fixtures, and cut, form, and fit components. With MIG and TIG you lay clean, consistent welds, then verify accuracy with measuring tools. When a detail could be made more manufacturable, you walk over to engineering, discuss options, and refine the design together. Before sign‑off, you inspect, correct, and record the outcome—always with safety and quality front of mind. Along the way, you suggest small process improvements that add up to real gains.

What you will do
  • Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to fabricate metal parts and assemblies.
  • Cut, weld, and shape components to build structural frames and machine subassemblies.
  • Fit, assemble, and install fabricated structures per specification.
  • Inspect work for dimensional accuracy and finish; adjust as needed to meet spec.
  • Collaborate with engineering/design teams to ensure manufacturability and function.
How success is measured
  • Precision and dimensional accuracy of fabricated components.
  • Consistent compliance with quality and safety standards.
Decision-making authority

Own the selection of fabrication methods and materials for assigned work, and recommend process improvements that enhance quality, safety, or throughput.

Note: This description is not exhaustive; your supervisor may assign additional duties as appropriate.

Your background
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Fluent blueprint/engineering drawing reading.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and practice.
Tools you’ll operate
  • MIG welder
  • TIG welder
