Work Location

  • Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.
  • Type of Employment: 40 hours per week
  • Estimated Period of Performance: 01 October 2026 to 30 September 2026, with four
  • additional 12-month option years.
  • Total Compensation: $37.88 per hour.
  • Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays

Working Hours
The weekly schedule will normally consist of either five 8-hour workdays or four 10-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 0600 and 1800, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The Radiology Technician will not work more than 40 hours per week; no overtime is allowed.

Summary of Duties
The Radiology Technician will provide professional ultrasound services, including diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasonic procedures, to Adults in Custody (AIC). Services rendered should be professional in nature and consistent with community standards of care.

Qualifications

  • Must complete a minimum 24-month accredited Diagnostic Radiologic Technology program (JRCERT or DOE-recognized), resulting in a certificate or associate degree.
  • Current certification in Radiography through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted state license or registration to practice as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC).

Attire

The Radiology Technician is expected to wear professional attire appropriate to the correctional environment while on duty; business attire or scrub-type uniforms are approved. No articles of clothing worn by the Radiology Technician will be khaki tan, khaki green, tan, dark green, gray, orange, or camouflage in color or pattern. Footwear will be closed-toe, flat-bottom, and completely cover the feet; fluid resistance and non-slip soles are preferred. Protective vests will be supplied by the institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine diagnostic radiographic examinations as ordered by authorized healthcare providers.
  • Properly position patients and select appropriate radiation exposure techniques to ensure diagnostic image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Operate standard radiographic equipment, including GE Medical Systems and Kodak imaging systems.
  • Follow all standard infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Assist with patient discharge and ensure patients understand follow-up care instructions.
  • Clean, sterilize, maintain, and perform minor troubleshooting of radiographic equipment; report defective equipment for corrective action.
  • Maintain adequate radiology and clinical supply inventories and notify appropriate personnel when supplies require replenishment.
  • Ensure instruments and unauthorized items are properly secured and not left in patient care areas during non-patient care hours.
  • Accurately process, document, and maintain radiologic studies in the electronic medical record and assist with medical record audits and reviews.
  • Maintain physical radiology records and ensure proper filing and storage in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Perform quality assurance activities and maintain required documentation in accordance with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for correctional institutions.
  • Serve as a technical resource for healthcare providers and provide training to mid-level practitioners and clinical staff on radiographic procedures.
  • Perform clerical and administrative support duties, including use of institution-specific computer systems such as SENTRY.
