Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Safety Specialist to join our dynamic construction team in the Grand Junction area. The Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs to ensure a secure and compliant work environment across all construction sites. This role is essential in promoting a safety-first culture, minimizing risks, and ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in occupational health, risk management, and construction safety practices, contributing to the overall success of our projects through proactive safety management.
Duties
- Conduct thorough safety inspections and audits across multiple construction sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.
- Develop, implement, and oversee safety policies, procedures, and training programs tailored to construction activities to promote a culture of safety.
- Manage risk assessments related to construction operations, identifying potential hazards and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Ensure proper documentation of safety incidents, investigations, and corrective actions in accordance with OSHA and Workers' Compensation requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to integrate safety protocols into daily operations using construction management software.
- Monitor adherence to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and other relevant regulations during project execution.
- Facilitate compliance management by keeping abreast of evolving OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and legal requirements.
- Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate with occupational health professionals to promote workers' health initiatives on-site.
- Support the implementation of EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) programs that align with organizational goals.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of risk management principles within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of occupational health standards and OSHA regulations.
- Experience with NEC standards relevant to electrical safety on construction sites.
- Familiarity with Workers' Compensation processes and claims management.
- Proficiency in construction management software for safety tracking and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability in compliance management across multiple jurisdictions.
- Construction site experience coupled with a solid understanding of construction management practices.
- Excellent communication skills for training delivery, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to analyze complex safety data and develop actionable insights for continuous improvement.
