Job Title: Index Operator

Job Description

Shift: 2nd & 3rd

Pay: up to $29 based on experience

The Index Operator will set up, operate, and monitor index machines and related CNC equipment to support high-precision manufacturing. This role focuses on maintaining consistent quality, minimizing downtime, and ensuring efficient production of precision components in a fast-paced, technologically advanced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor index machines used in Index CNC machining and related manufacturing processes to ensure precise and consistent production runs.
  • Perform routine inspections and adjustments on CNC and index machines to maintain optimal performance and prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Conduct quality control checks throughout the production process, verifying dimensional accuracy and overall quality of components.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools to measure and confirm parts meet required specifications.
  • Manage material handling tasks, including loading raw materials, monitoring and troubleshooting feeding issues, and unloading finished products.
  • Collaborate with related teams to ensure proper setup, tooling, and process parameters are in place for each production run.
  • Maintain detailed records of production runs, machine settings, maintenance activities, and quality inspections to support compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints and technical drawings to set up machines and verify part conformance.
  • Follow safety protocols rigorously when operating CNC equipment and other machinery, maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Essential Skills

  • Strong CNC machining with hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience performing basic machine adjustments and routine maintenance on CNC and index machines.
  • Solid understanding of machining processes and quality inspection practices.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify and correct quality issues during production.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and manufacturing best practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with INDEX or Swiss-style machining equipment.
  • Experience using comparators for detailed part inspection.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc and Mazak controls.
  • lathe and mill operations.
  • Experience with blueprint reading in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and documentation in a production setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a precision manufacturing facility that produces hydraulic components and assemblies for agricultural, automotive, and heavy industry markets. The campus includes multiple buildings and offers a temperature-controlled, clean, and well-lit environment designed for comfort and safety. Work is performed on second shift (2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) or third shift (10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.), operating CNC and index machinery with modern controls such as Fanuc and Mazak. The facility emphasizes organized workspaces, adherence to safety protocols, and reliable equipment to support high-quality production.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valley City, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
