Job Description

This role focuses on performing structural modifications and installations on UH-60 aircraft in support of a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) government program. You will work extensively on autopilot systems and glass cockpit installations, contributing to long-term upgrade projects on rotary-wing platforms. This is a long-term, indefinite contract opportunity with strong potential to convert to a direct hire position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural modifications and installations on UH-60 aircraft in support of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs.
  • Install and integrate structural components related to autopilot systems and glass cockpit upgrades.
  • Carry out aircraft structural repairs, including sheet metal repair, replacement, and reinforcement of airframe components.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation to complete modifications and repairs accurately.
  • Use aircraft sheet metal techniques such as cutting, drilling, riveting, and fastening to assemble and install structural components.
  • Perform structural inspections to verify proper fit, finish, and integrity of installed and repaired components.
  • Ensure all work meets applicable aviation standards, structural requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Use and maintain personal hand tools and equipment required for aircraft structures work.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and teams in a hangar environment to complete modification and installation projects on schedule.
  • Document work performed in accordance with program and regulatory requirements, ensuring accurate records of modifications and repairs.

Essential Skills

  • Aircraft structures experience, strongly preferring 5+ years of hands-on structural work.
  • Demonstrated experience performing aircraft structural modifications and installations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with sheet metal repair, including cutting, forming, fitting, and fastening structural components.
  • Experience in airframe structures, with the ability to perform structural repair, modification, and installation tasks.
  • Ability to perform aircraft modification work using standard aircraft sheet metal tools and techniques, including riveting.
  • Capability to work on rotary-wing platforms; rotary-wing experience is preferred, but experience on other aircraft platforms with modification and installation work will be considered.
  • Ownership of personal tools for aircraft structural work, or willingness to obtain the required tools.
  • Experience working in aviation environments such as hangars on helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with UH-60 aircraft structures and systems is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in helicopter structural repair and modification is preferred.
  • Exposure to autopilot system installations and glass cockpit structural integrations is an advantage.
  • Interest in pursuing an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license, with an opportunity to earn the license upon conversion to a direct role.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively on day or second shift as part of a team in a production or modification environment.

Work Environment

You will work in a hangar environment focused on UH-60 aircraft modification and structural projects. The schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts from Monday through Thursday, with options for a day shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) or a second shift (approximately 3:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.). The setting is described as laid back, located in a scenic area on a lake in the foothills and mountains between major regional cities, with a relatively low cost of living and strong outdoor and fishing opportunities. You will use your own tools or tools you acquire for aircraft structural and sheet metal work, operating standard aviation equipment and working around active aircraft in a professional hangar facility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $36.00/hr.
