Truss Assembly Worker
Job Description
This role involves building structural trusses as part of a small team, using basic hand and power tools on large truss tables. You will work with your hands throughout the day, read measurements accurately, and help ensure each truss is built to specification. The position offers weekly production-based commission in addition to hourly pay, with earnings influenced by the number of trusses completed.
Responsibilities
- Build structural trusses on large truss tables according to specifications and quality standards.
- Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively throughout the shift.
- Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to ensure proper dimensions and alignment.
- Work as part of a team of 2–4 people to complete truss assemblies efficiently.
- Climb up and down truss tables repeatedly during the shift to position materials and complete assemblies.
- Swing a hammer for extended periods while assembling and securing truss components.
- Maintain a steady production pace to maximize weekly commission opportunities based on output.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of required protective equipment such as ear plugs.
- Assist with general housekeeping in the work area to keep the plant clean and organized.
- Adapt to working both indoors and outdoors as needed, depending on production requirements.
Essential Skills
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools, including consistent hammer use throughout the day.
- Experience using basic power tools in a construction, carpentry, or similar setting.
- Comfort with physical work, including climbing on and off truss tables for the duration of the shift.
- Experience or familiarity with assembly work, carpentry, construction, or farming environments.
- Ability to stand for an entire shift while performing repetitive tasks.
- Capability to work effectively as part of a small team to meet production goals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in truss assembly, carpentry, construction, or agricultural work is beneficial.
- General mechanical aptitude and comfort working with wood and structural components.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing production needs.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements and quality builds.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pillager, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
