This role performs preventative, routine, and urgent maintenance on production machinery and equipment in a refrigerated food manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Technician ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently by conducting inspections, performing repairs, and supporting both electrical and mechanical systems. This position plays a key role in maintaining production uptime, adhering to safety standards, and supporting a clean and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on production machines and equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance needs and equipment breakdowns to restore operations safely and efficiently.
- Perform basic building maintenance tasks as needed, while focusing primarily on production machinery and equipment.
- Regularly clean, lubricate, and service machinery and moving parts to ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect plant equipment and moving parts on a regular basis to identify wear, damage, or potential issues before they cause failures.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues, including components such as contactors, voltage-related issues, pneumatics, conveyors, and automated equipment.
- Support maintenance activities on equipment used in food manufacturing and, where applicable, medical-related equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company standards.
- Follow all company safety guidelines, including lockout/tagout procedures, and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to prioritize tasks and complete work efficiently.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections as required by company procedures.
- Assist in maintaining and improving the reliability of refrigeration equipment used in the facility.
Essential Skills
- 1–2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Experience working with both electrical (approximately 50%) and mechanical (approximately 50%) equipment, or strong mechanical experience with willingness to focus on mechanical responsibilities.
Work Environment
This role is based in a refrigerated food manufacturing plant maintained at approximately 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and you must be comfortable working 8–10 hours per day in this temperature. The environment may be wet or dry, depending on the production area and tasks. Production demands may require overtime and flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed. The company operates 24/7 with three shifts, and this position is assigned to 1st shift, with typical hours of either 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., on schedules such as Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
