Job Description
About NVI
\nNVI Workforce Development is a social enterprise and nonprofit subcontractor serving individuals with significant barriers to employment. With a ~$4M operating budget, 182 employees (165 part-time), and a growing portfolio of production contracts and services programs, NVI is at an inflection point. Its production operations serve as the primary revenue engine that funds its services mission — a model that distinguishes NVI from grant-dependent nonprofits and demands strong operational and financial leadership.
\nPosition Summary
\nThe Chief Operations & Finance Officer is a newly created senior executive role and a critical investment in NVI's growth trajectory. This position serves as the internal operational and financial anchor of the organization, partnering directly with the President to execute strategy, protect organizational health, and optimize the production engine that funds NVI's mission.
\nThe position owns the systems, metrics, and accountability structures that allow NVI to scale with confidence — including financial planning and reporting, quality and safety oversight, performance dashboards, and the direct management of Operations and Finance functions. This leader brings the operational instincts of a COO and the analytical rigor for finance function, with an understanding that in NVI's model, production excellence and financial sustainability are inseparable.
\nWhy This Role Exists
\nNVI's single-leader model has served the organization well through its early growth stage. As NVI scales — in workforce size, contract volume, and mission complexity — the President role must shift outward toward strategy, partnerships, and business development. The role is designed to own everything that makes internal operations work: financial controls, production quality, safety systems, performance metrics, and staff accountability. This is a strategic execution role.
\nThis position represents a unique opportunity to join an organization at a critical growth stage — and to build the operational and financial infrastructure that will define NVI's next chapter.
