Responsibilities:As a Respiratory Therapist, your responsibilities include:
Assess, treat, and monitor residents with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions.
Administer respiratory treatments including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, nebulizer treatments, and medication administration as ordered.
Manage and monitor ventilator-dependent residents in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.
Perform routine ventilator checks, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Assist with tracheostomy care including suctioning, trach changes (as permitted), and emergency airway management.
Monitor residents for changes in respiratory status and communicate findings promptly to physicians and nursing staff.
Obtain and interpret pulse oximetry, capnography, and other respiratory assessments as appropriate.
Educate residents, families, and staff regarding respiratory treatments, equipment, and disease management.
Ensure respiratory equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and functioning safely.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning meetings.
Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges involving residents requiring respiratory services.
Respond appropriately to respiratory emergencies and participate in CPR and emergency response activities.
Follow all infection prevention, safety, OSHA, CMS, and state regulatory requirements.
Maintain the dignity, privacy, and comfort of every resident while delivering high-quality respiratory care.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapy, and other disciplines to optimize resident outcomes.
Current State License as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT, as applicable).
Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, ventilator, sub-acute, or critical care preferred.
Knowledge of ventilator management, tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy, and respiratory equipment.
Strong assessment, communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
