Job Description
Lead Maintenance Mechanic
Oak Lawn, IL (On-site)
1st shift

Compensation: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour

About the Role
This is not a clean room job, and it is not a corporate environment. A fast-growing, mission-driven food processing facility on Chicago's south side is looking for a skilled and hands-on Lead Maintenance Mechanic to join a small but mighty maintenance team supporting a 3-shift operation.
If you are someone who takes pride in being the person who keeps things running, thrives in a physical and fast-changing environment, and wants to be part of something with real purpose behind it, this is worth a serious look.
Be prepared: this is an industrial environment. There are odors, no air conditioning, and the work is physical and dirty. Candidates who thrive here take pride in that and do not shy away from it.

About the Company
The facility sits on a 9-acre campus with a 30,000 square foot building and is currently in the middle of a major capacity expansion. The culture is entrepreneurial, fast-moving, and open to lean thinking, 5S, kaizen, and anyone who wants to make things better. The organization is mission-focused on sustainability, job creation, and healthy communities. This is real environmental impact at an industrial scale and the team behind it is just getting started.

Responsibilities
  • Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance across a 3-shift food processing operation
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems including 480V equipment
  • Perform MIG and stick welding, fabrication, and basic rigging as needed
  • Install, align, and maintain pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, screens, tanks, and related equipment
  • Work with SCADA systems, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and sensors to diagnose and resolve equipment issues
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks through CMMS and maintain accurate work logs and parts records
  • Work safely and enforce LOTO, confined space, hot work, and all OSHA site safety requirements
  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager on maintenance planning, scheduling, and priorities
  • Be a dependable, go-to resource on the floor across all three shifts as needed
Requirements
  • Electrical background required including experience with 480V, 3-phase systems
  • MIG and stick welding experience is preferred
  • Hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, prefer food processing, chemical or other industrial environments
  • Experience with SCADA, PLC, or VFD systems is a plus
  • CMMS experience preferred
  • Comfortable working in a physical, industrial environment with odors, heat, and no air conditioning
  • OSHA compliance and LOTO experience required
Compensation and Benefits
  • $40.00 to $45.00 per hour
  • Entrepreneurial, fast-moving culture where good work gets noticed
  • A facility in active growth mode with real opportunity to grow as the team expands
  • Mission-driven organization with meaningful environmental and community impact
This is a role for someone who shows up, keeps things running, and wants to be part of a team that is building something worth being a part of. If that describes you, apply now and let's talk.
