Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Kitchen and Bath Designer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with clients to transform their visions into functional, beautiful spaces. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle—from the initial design consultation and spatial planning to material selection, final layout specs, and project oversight.

The ideal candidate combines a strong aesthetic sense and spatial awareness with excellent communication skills, technical proficiency in design software, and a proven track record of managing residential renovation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Client Consultation & Concept Development

  • Meet with clients to discover their style preferences, functional needs, budget parameters, and project goals.
  • Conduct on-site measurements and evaluate existing spatial constraints.
  • Develop inspiring design concepts, mood boards, and initial space planning layouts.

Technical Design & Documentation

  • Create accurate 2D floor plans, elevations, mechanical layouts, and 3D renderings using industry-standard software.
  • Specify cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, appliances, lighting, flooring, and hardware.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) guidelines, and accessibility standards.

Sales & Project Management

  • Prepare detailed project estimates, proposals, and contracts for client approval.
  • Order materials, track shipments, and coordinate delivery schedules to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Collaborate closely with general contractors, installers, and tradespeople during the construction phase to resolve field issues and ensure design integrity.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Experience & Education

  • Experience: 3+ years of dedicated residential kitchen and bath design experience (showroom or design firm experience preferred).
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating completed kitchen and bath projects, including technical drawings and before/after photos.
  • Education: Degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in design software such as 2020 Design Live, Chief Architect, AutoCAD, or SketchUp.
  • Deep knowledge of cabinetry construction, semi-custom/custom cabinet lines, and catalog ordering.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods, plumbing, and electrical requirements.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and sales skills with a consultative, customer-first approach.
  • Flawless attention to detail—especially when checking dimensions and ordering components.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected challenges on the job site.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary plus commission/performance bonuses.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays.
  • Ongoing professional development and support for NKBA certifications.
  • A collaborative, creative showroom environment.
